Veredas, campo y cafe sits just a block from the Basilica in Chiquinquirá, offering a blend of cozy café charm and a relaxed restaurant setting with a distinct local flavor. It’s a space that draws in a diverse crowd—from families enjoying a meal to solo visitors looking for a quiet corner to read or work while sipping on a strong, well-prepared tinto.

The atmosphere here combines warm, rustic touches with carefully chosen music—blues and jazz often fill the air, creating an easygoing backdrop that feels both refined and approachable. The decor nods to the surrounding Boyacá region, grounding the café in local culture without feeling staged or touristy.

On the menu, the kitchen leans on regional ingredients and familiar flavors made with care. For example, the pizza is handmade using local produce, reflecting Boyacá’s culinary traditions in a handheld form. Burgers come with freshly baked buns, a juicy mix of beef and pork, and are perfectly paired with traditional crispy papa criolla. These dishes make Veredas a great spot for a casual meal that highlights Boyacense comfort food, but with a thoughtful, homemade touch.

Drinks here stand out for their freshness and simplicity. Frappe coffees and natural fruit juices are lightly sweetened and preservative-free, mainly showcasing regional fruits—ideal for a refreshing break from the local heat. The café manages to balance the café and restaurant experience well, making it fitting for both a slow morning coffee or a relaxed lunch with friends or family.

Locals seem to appreciate the welcoming, attentive staff and the sense of calm near the busy Basilica area. It’s especially suitable for people who want to step a little away from the plaza’s bustle to enjoy some crafted food and drink in an environment that invites you to linger, chat, or dive into a good book. Families, couples, and travelers looking for something off the beaten path yet entirely local will find Veredas easy to settle into, especially during daylight hours when the natural light highlights the space’s inviting details.

A nice, cosy cafe a block away from the Basilica. I had a tinto which was hot and strong. This place beats the crowded places in the paza.

Llegué por casualidad y fue una grata sorpresa, se escucha blues y jazz en este sitio. Estuve todo el día leyendo... tomando un buen café y una torta de manzana deliciosa. Su personal es increíblemente amable al igual que sus propietarios.

It's such a fancy yet typical place. Great music, wonderful food. You have to try "almojabana en Mermelada" that's just out of this world.
